...Shock is what Ron Angle felt when he lost his presidency. Awe is what he felt when he lost his seat.
For some reason, some folks believe that money is the answer to everything...we're here to tell them it's not. Those same people have been taught that money is the root of all evil...we're here to tell them that isn't so. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. There is a difference!
No one ever thought that Ron could be defeated...but he was! Why? because politicians like Mr. Angle believe (in their shallow minds) that money is the answer to everything, and sooner or later they discover it's not. Ron discovered it! Just ask him, he'll tell you.
The fact that John Callahan has a big war chest (as it's called) should tell us all that he owes a lot of favors (pay to play as some say). You see, when people contribute, especially the big dogs (who can give tens of thousands), generally speaking they don't do it out of generosity. No, in most cases they have a hidden agenda...which leads to favors requested...which leads to corruption.
Is that what We The People want? Of course not.
In 2011 few believed that Ron would lose his seat, after all, he had so much money! But the voters sent him to loserville because the people were sick and tired of his antics. And because citizens like those who make up COAF stood firmly on the rock of TRUTH, fearlessly telling the electors that there was a better way, vote against him, and surely he will lose...and lose he did.
So again we ask: Do we as a people want to go back to the Ron Angle days? If so, then by all means vote for john Callahan. Just keep in mind that of the three running he's the one who most resembles John Stoffa...remember him? He's the one who sued the taxpayers using the taxpayers resources.
Don't get us wrong, on the surface John Callahan seems like a gentleman, but so did Stoffa, and we all know how horribly he has managed the County. So really, do we want to replace John with John and go backwards? That's something we all need to think about.
Honesty, integrity, and loyalty to the people is the reason that Lamont McClure raised the least for his campaign. He refuses to compromise his values, or his character, and owes no one anything. Supporting Lamont delivers honesty, integrity, and loyalty.
We'll leave you with this: Consider that Mr. Callahan discussing taxes said he cannot promise not to raise taxes because he doesn't know what the future holds. Well, lets apply that to Gracedale. He signed a promise not to sell Gracedale, but that was just him telling us what we want to hear. If he gets elected, when tomorrow comes he will scheme to sell Gracedale, and he will use taxes as hoax to do so, just like the others did. But this John is slicker than the other, and he may actually dismantle what we have assembled. Do we really want to take that risk?
Interesting observation
ReplyDeleteMr. Callahan is a shrewd politcan. For that reason alone, I doubt he will ever want to sell Gracedale. That nutty idea led to the ouster of Angle and the decision of the four newbies on council not to run again. The only person who walked awy from it intact was John Stoffa, the Teflon politician.
ReplyDeleteCallahan wants a future in politics so he knows that Gracedale is a reality. Besides with the right county council he would never get the five votes he would need.
You make a good point. The problem is one of trust. Callahan can' be trusted. And Stoffa is not out of the woods yet, and he knows it.
ReplyDeleteWe need trust,and civility.
