Webster's Definition...

...Of a politician.

"1: a person experienced in the art or science of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government.

2 a : a person engaged in party politics as a profession.
b : a person primarily interested in political office for selfish or other narrow usually short-sighted reasons."

Our point of interest is 2 b: a person primarily interested in political office for selfish or other narrow usually short-sighted reasons.

Who exactly does that remind you of? Before you answer that question, consider all who are up for re-election in May, and then November. But Yes, County Executive John Stoffa does come to mind. Here he is allowing anyone and everyone into the courthouse without passing through any form of security. This occurred on or about October 17-18th, 2011. Stoffa made another reckless decision without consequence. His reckless decision did not only affect him, but also every member of our government, including Judges and Employees.

The sad thing is that when County Council discovered this truth as exposed by BO's blog (Doorman), they did nothing.

John Stoffa has done and said many things that are absolutely wrong! And yes, sadly County Council continues to allow him to get a way with it. Why??? What is the message here?

Most recently (December 2012) John Stoffa was exposed, and literally caught in one of his LIES, a major deception at that. And County Council to date has done or said nothing. We have to ask WHY??? Clearly, they have to understand what depraved conduct is! Ladies and Gentlemen of Norco - so that there is no misunderstanding...The misuse of tax dollars is depraved behavior.

Food for thought - is it possible that 2b applies also with our current County Council? Sadly, we're starting to believe it does. We elected four last year who promised us they would make a difference, now they need to ask themselves - are they truly making a difference, or have they fallen into the mix of depravity?

Lets take a look at who may be leaving us this year...John Cusick, Peg Ferraro, Tom Dietrich, Bruce Gilbert, and Barbara Thierry...oh yes - We almost forgot John Stoffa...but John doesn't matter because he's not running. Of course we wish that he would so we could do something County Council seems fearful to do - something like fire him at the polls, you know - like we fired Ron Angle.

We The People have a strong suspicion that Barbara Thierry and Bruce Gilbert don't stand a chance of re-election should they decide to run (we understand they are not). The other three? Well, how they handle this "John Stoffa misuse of tax dollars" will certainly have an impact on our decision to keep or replace them. We want honest government. And anyone who does not understand that has no place in government.

We shouldn't have to tell County Council what to do involving matters of depravity, they should know what to do...and they should do it. At the very least - John Stoffa should be censured by County Council and asked to resign...illustrating that County
Council is not in agreement with the Executive's decision to deceive his electors and taxpayers, as well as County Council. By doing and saying nothing they are actually condoning Stoffa's depraved behavior, as such, they are just as guilty...and they too should be fired.

We're not insisting on creating trouble for our local government, our local government is doing that all by itself. We are however, insisting that our local government be honest and trustworthy...Is that asking for too much?

Are we wrong for expecting the leaders we elect to become part of the solution, rather than part of the problem?

Are we wrong for expecting the best out of those we select by the power of our votes to serve our best interest?

Are we wrong to expect the best from those who promised that we could trust them? Are we wrong?

  2. Not only do they turn their backs to the Stoffa corrupption, they are giving him a new and unnecessary multi-million dollar building as a reward for his terrible reign as county executive.

I am not impressed with any of the county council, other than Mr. McClure and Mr. Parsons. The rest are just baggage.

I will not vote for one incumbent county council person this spring or fall. They can help Stoffa build birdhouses.

  3. COAF should ask Mr. Parsons and/or Mr. Werner DIRECTLY to sponsor at bill to condemm Mr. Stoffa for partially paying Angle/O'Hare legal bills. The law would look very similar to what Council passed with regard to Mr. Barron.

  4. The council is looking very unprofessional so far this year. They have lost the confidence of many in their ability to lead and make sound decisions. I doubt if many will be re-elected. Stoffa is a disgrace to his office. The council by their silence has become as guilty as he in his illegal use of tax dollars to finance private litagation. Now they should all be held accountable.

  5. They plan to reward Mr. Stoffa with a building. How is that for a kick in the teeth.
