Should Stoffa Be Recalled???

This is a great question...tell us what you think.

  1. The question needs to be asked whey Mr. Stoffa didn't buy out of the swaption when it was $6 mil.

  2. Why didn't Mr. Stoffa satisfy the swaption when it was $6 mil. ?

  3. I think that Stoffa has already dug his own grave.
Here is list which I can name. Perhaps others can come forth:
Gracedale-We all know his first excuse.
Then the swaption problem came to light.
Following the swaption deal, then the DUI appeared.
Then, out of no where, came the new jail in West Easton.
Following the jail,we now see coming to the foreground an asbestos problem.
How much of a fool does he believe his constituents to be.
My advice to him is that he had better toe the county line FOR THE RESIDENTS and forget what his previous ties were.
What can you expect from a close ally of soon to be gone Angle?

  4. Don't forget he is still to be held accountable for using taxpayers money to try and prevent the referendum so voters could weigh in on the sale of Gracedale. That legal issue is far from over yet!

  5. Its my opinion, and also the Auditor Generals' (Jack Wagner) of the Commnwealth of PA, that all swaptions should be, and should have been terminated, according to his special investigation in 2009. All swaptions can be terminated and refinanced with convential government debt instruments. I think the swaption should be terminated now, and refinanced with general obligation bonds. The bond financing should be paid for with the 1.7 million dedicated to the West Easton DUI center. If that is done, the $24.5 million will not have to be ripped out of the surplus in 2012. With that money still in the surplus, and additional $4 million can be appropriated into the 2012 budget and wipe out the tax hike altogether.

The debt payments on the re-financed swaption would cost about 2.5 million per year spanning a 10 year period at a fixed rate of interest. This could be paid for by using a small amount of surplus each year, matched by all monies presently dedicated to open space, and the West Easton treatment center.

    Signed, done, filed.

    No tax hike needed

  6. There was $300,000 in 2011 budget for the Eckert Seaman law firm. There should be approx. $120,000 left. Where's that money now?

  7. I wouldn't waste your efforts on recalling Stoffa. It then cheapens your movement. If he is shown to be trying to subvert Gracdale and it can be proved, then yes, go for it.

I would wait until 2013 and be very, very careful who you support for County Executive. You need to be sure who ever it is they are not only very knowledgeable but sincere and not just looking for another rung on the political ladder.

  8. It is rumored that John Callaham wants to run for Exec. ? He closes firehouses. Would he have any compunction about selling a nursing home ?

  9. I'm sure that the Gracedale issue will be part of the vetting process. Although Mr. two-face said he wouldn't consider selling it, until Angle got to him.

  10. No more political opportunists. Callahan sold the city of Bethlehem to the highest bidders. Please don't let that happen again.

  11. Agree, the Calahan sleeze facror is way too high. We can't gamble Gracedale agian on a smooth talking pol.

  12. Isn't Mayor Callahan being encouraged to run by Mr. Jim Hickey ? Is Mr. Hickey the architect of the "swaption" ?

  13. As a regular reader and ardent supporter of this cause, I am disappointed to see that my comment to the West Easton Footprint post about utilizing open space funding for any other purpose has been deleted. I did not mean to be controversial, I just have a difference of opinion from that of West Easton Footprint regarding her proposal. We open space folks got a nice kick in the teeth on Tuesday and reading the post from Tricia was salt in the wound. I hope the deletion was a mistake, sorry for the micro drama. Gracedale and Open Space are issues near and dear to me that I will speak for and defend with logic when needed.
