What's The Difference...

...Between "Tax Money" and "County Money?" Well, that's a question that Mr. Stoffa, the highest elected County official should explain to the tax payers of NorCo...because after Thursday Night Council meeting, May 3, 2012, Mr. Stoffa indicated that he used "County Money" to assist in the private litigation of O'Hare and Angle against the tax payers, not "TAX Money".

Really - well what exactly does that mean? Is there actually somewhere else that the County receives funds from that are not categorized as tax dollars?

In our opinion, and please feel free to correct us if we are mistaken Mr. Executive, all funds which come from the state and federal levels of government are tax dollars also, so please Mr. Stoffa, offer us a good sound explanation that we may be enlighten by your financial brilliance.

  1. With Stoffas comments lately I wounder if he has gone off the deep end, is he capable of running Northampton County? His comments lately make one wounder.

  2. Stoffa said that he could use the money that council approved anyway he wanted in order to sell Gracedale. Really?
I guess he was given the ok to bring in and pay anyone under the table or even the Mafia as long as they could guarantee the sale of Gracedale.
This is our county executive who also seems to believe the county money and tax money are 2 separate entities.
Perhaps he ought to reconsider his leadership ability in the County?

  3. As hard as I try I can"t believe that County Council voted to give Stoffa Carte Blanc to do what he wanted with $300,000.00 to sell Gracedale. And if my understanding is correct it was to "look into" selling Gracedale. I don't believe in anyway their vote provided for funding private litigation or the review of petition signatures. I don't care if Stoffa believes it was "county" money and not "tax payer " money that paid for this.... It still was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! For the record Mr. Stoffa the monies are one in the same unless the county has a printing press in the basement. It doesn't matter if you are printing "county" money or spending tax money for private litigation it sure doesn't look goood for you Mr. Stoffa. E-mails and bills don't lie like people can.

  4. Stoffa was never given card blanc to do anything other then prepare for the sale of Gracedale, Those that attend these meetings all are aware of that. Keep digging yourself in.

  6. Thanks to 69 News, the Express would never print a story like this. Is this the reason the Express is a day late and a dollar short?

  8. The wild wild west, county is using county money. Do they have a printing press in the basement? Like some of the old banks, the money is not worth the paper it is printed on, maybe the venders should watch there pay.

  10. That is why bo and wrong angle are pursuing all these lawsuits. Scare and misdirect. Don't be surprised by Stoffa, he is genuinely not all there and what is there is devious.

He has never been called on his lack of skills so he just doesn't get how he can be mistaken. The papers and others have always praised him like a local God. He screwed up in every management job he has had and yet the papers never have called him on anything. Why? Maybe it is the corny jokes he tells, or the laconic way he loafs around. The guy is a complete incompetent and if his seven years as executive have not shown it, the paper will never see it.

He thinks when council said sell Gracedale, he got to be his usual "Emperor" self. He doesn't allow anyone in his Administration to breath without his ok. Since he can rarely make a decision, not much ever gets done.

The lion share of selling Gracedale was handled by Conklin, Angle and O'Hare. Stoffa just wanted the cash.

Stoffa is just wrong. All money the country uses is taxpayer money. If he used his own funds fine, let him prove it. I find the lack of interest by the District Attorney, the county council and the local media disturbing if not criminal.

If nothing is done, all this must be sent to the state attorney general and to the US Attorney General. I doubt they will be as conned by "old Stoffa" as our local "official" appear to be.

  11. All good things come to an end. If anyone watches channel 16 - Scranton station about the two judges that had a good thing going look where they are today JAIL.
It is not the same as what is going on in Northampton County but wrong just the same.
Like I said all good things come to an end.

  13. I think it is time that District Attorney get out of his office and take a serious look at this matter. JOHN STOFFA JUST ADMITTED HE USED TAX MONEY, PARDON ME, COUNTY MONEY, TO PAY FOR THE OHARE ANGLE PETITION CHALLENGE!
THAT IS A THEFT MR. D.A.
Maybe COAF should pay him a visit and give him the EVIDENCE!

  14. "The Emperor's New Clothes" (Danish: Kejserens nye Klæder) is a short tale by Hans Christian Andersen about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent.

When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, a child cries out, "But he isn't wearing anything at all!" The tale has been translated into over a hundred languages.

"The Emperor’s New Clothes" was first published with "The Little Mermaid" in Copenhagen by C. A. Reitzel on 7 April 1837 as the third and final installment of Andersen's Fairy Tales Told for Children. The tale has been adapted to various media, including the musical stage and animated film.

A vain Emperor who cares for nothing but his appearance and attire hires two tailors who are really swindlers that promise him the finest, best suit of clothes from a fabric invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or "just hopelessly stupid". The Emperor cannot see the cloth himself, but pretends that he can for fear of appearing unfit for his position; his ministers do the same. When the swindlers report that the suit is finished, they mime dressing him and the Emperor then marches in procession before his subjects, who play along with the pretense. Suddenly, a child in the crowd, too young to understand the desirability of keeping up the pretense, blurts out that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all and the cry is taken up by others.

The Emperor cringes, suspecting the assertion is true, but holds himself up proudly and continues the procession. After this experience, the Emperor vows never to be so vain again and take his position more seriously.

Stoffa unfortunately hired Angle and O'Hare to make him some clothes.

  16. Well Ohare why did you say you received no help from Mark Strward, when on Feb 17 2011 MEETING yyou said you got no help. On 2/19/11 why did Robber B. Hoffman charge 250.00 per hr,to draft pre trial brief for your court case on Feb 11 2011, total cost to county $1,125.00. Hoffman finalized brief on 2/10/2011 cost $5.oo.oo. Mark Steward on 2/11/2011 prepair for hearing $250.00, 1.50 hrs. cost 375.00. Ohare said in counsel meeting Steward was at the court for 1hr. to 1 1/2 hrs. why did he charge the county for 4.90 hrs at a cost of $1,225.00+100.00 travel for a total of 1,325.00. Why did Mark Steward on 2/13/11 charge the county 4 hrs. at 250.00 hr.to draft post hearing brief charge to the county 1,000.00. On 2/14/2011 Mark Steward charged the county 700.00 to finalize post hearing brief. On 2/16/11 Mark steward called Stoffa and follow up on appeal $100.00. So we now know Stoffa knew what was going on.One question WHY?

  17. Word on the street is, I want to hear Stoffa talk his way out of this one. I guess it is time to nail his hide to the barn door. You Know pay backs are hell John.

  18. Well one more commment, the bills from Mark Steward say for the sale of GRACEDALE, not stop the challenge at all costs.

  19. Personally, I find it hard to believe that our elected officials are ignoring this illegal use of "county/tax monies."
However, I do believe that Council should take a day or so and FINALLY read the evidence and say or do something about it.
Sounds to me that the improper use of our "hard earned money" is fraud.
If Stoffa had any integrity or leadership qualities, he would finally put an end to this horrible debacle.

  20. If the Express and the MC had these bills before the COAF why did they not brake this story? Why are they still waiting? I was hopping that things would change when Owens left, I guess they did not. I guess you can say a day late and a dollar short.

  21. The Press promoted John Stoffa as the new "Saint John of politcs". He fooled them as he has fooled most people. People who have worked close with him know what he is aobut.

You will get no help from the newspapers, they are in the bag for Stoffa.

  22. Everypne WAS afraid of Stoffa, Angle and O'Hare until the COAF showed that when you tell the truth you have nothing to fear from them or anyone. Oh, they have tried to intimidate and harrass the members. Calling them goons, crazies, haters and other miserable childish things...but has it swayed the group from their efforts to save Gracedale?
    NO! Absolutely not!
And look what they have done to themselves by trying to sneak one over on the taxpayers....they may have even commited illegal activity by using tax/county (the thought of a difference has me rotfl) dollars to fund private litagation. I think our DA really should look into the e-mails and bills and if he doesn't then I think the group should follow through and go to the Attorney General. This was no penny ante proposition folks. Thousands of dollars of our tax/county dollars were misused to fund a private law suit.
Council has been given a chance too to man up and do
the right thing . Their response will show what kind of leaders we have elected. We already know what we got when we elected Stoffa...nothing worth the effort it took to cast the vote.
